Relevant Grades

Grade B | BB
The best grade available for clear finishing.
‘B’ grade is normally available with ‘BB’ Grade reverse.

Grades S | BB & S+ | BB
Good enough quality face for clear finishing or painting, few natural defect and well-made patches are allowed.

Grade BB
Suitable for all general woodworking. This is the main commercial grade.

Grade BB|CP & BB|WG
Standard commercial grades with only one side suitable for all general woodworking. Reverse side can have numerous defects.

Grade CP
Mainly for Packing crates and furniture carcasses.

Grade C
Similar to Grade WG. It can be unsanded with open defects and discoloration.

Grade WG
Large knots, patches, open defects, staining and discoloration are permitted. This grade is mainly used for packing crates and where unseen, such as upholstered furniture.

Commercial Plywood is an engineered wood product made from three or more ‘plies’ or thin sheets of wood. These are glued together to form a thicker, flat sheet. The logs used to make plywood as a building material are prepared by steaming or dipping in hot water. They are then fed into a lathe machine, which peels the log into thin plies of wood. As each plywood sheet is usually between 1 and 4mm thick.

Marine plywood is manufactured from durable face and core veneers, with few defects so it performs longer in both humid and wet conditions and resists delaminating and fungal attack. Its construction is such that it can be used in environments where it is exposed to moisture for long periods. Each wood veneer will be from tropical hardwoods, have negligible core gap, limiting the chance of trapping water in the plywood and hence providing a solid and stable glue bond. Birch Plywood

Is made from rubberwood core (Hevea brasiliensis) and decorated with Birch veneer. Rubber wood is usually known as environmentally friendly due to its function as a plantation tree that has already served a useful function in the production of latex.

After approximately 25 years these trees reach the end of their latex producing cycle and are harvested to make room for new trees planted in their place.  This makes rubber wood one of the worlds most ‘eco-friendly’ fibers used for plywood, as this wood is harvested from a renewable source. Decorate with the light tan to pale yellow Birch veneer with tight grains and smooth surface making this panel the primary choice for kitchen cabinetry and furniture, it has an excellent surface for painting.
