Yellow formwork plate

The three-layer formwork panels, made of solid wood, are made of three layers of spruce or fir wood that are glued together. The outer layer consists of the width-glued slats, which extend in length, while the middle layer consists of wooden sections which are configured transversely and are framed by the front and longitudinal rails. With this type of structure we obtain an adequate resistance to bending of the panel.

H20 Beam formwork

Beams manufactured with extreme care prove their effectiveness on a daily basis, and can be used in any situation on many construction sites. H20 top and H20 eco are world-renowned names and are the right choice for any application. H20 beams are wooden formwork beams and are intended for use in load-bearing scaffolding and formwork; their use for larger loads (eg prefabricated beams) is however prohibited.

Used in formwork construction, film-coated plywood is a product made of veneer sheets glued with special adhesive to withstand a high humidity environment, with phenolic film applied on both sides. Decofrol

There are 2 types: Concentrate that is diluted with water and Decofrol Oil B, which is used as such.

FILM FACED PLYWOOD MEGAPLEX (CHINA.PREMIUM CLASS)
Megaplex is a very high quality Chinese film faced plywood. It is produced under MEGAPLEX logo for our company only. We have marked each side of the panels with the trademark MEGAPLEX and specification WBP GLUE BROWN FFPLYWOOD A/A GRADE. MIP Group offers to its Bulgarian and foreign partners very good quality film faced plywood with that product. Our company has huge quantities MEGAPLEX for export stocked in our storage in Varna. We realize fast orders and delivery to Stip, Skopie, Strumitca in Macedonia, Serbia and Romania.
MEGAPLEX is film faced plywood with highest technical specification. Produced in China. This is top quality film faced plywood imported in Bulgaria. Size of every sheet: 1220x2440x21мм (+/-3), poplar core, 13 plies, WBP glue 220-240g/m2. Grade A/A. Weight 33-35Kg. Package – plywood. 45 pieces in a pallet.

Every sheet and pallet sign is: WBP GLUE BROWN FF PLYWOOD A/A GRADE . This is PREMIUM QUALITY. Only MIP Group is importer of that product. Our company has the rights over the product, the logo .
The film faced plywood MEGAPLEX is produced as top quality shuttering panels. You can use it over 10 times. You should follow the instructions for use of panels so to use many times .

It’s important to know that film faced plywood MEGAPLEX is not finger joint core. You can not meet inside concrete or old parts of plywood. MEGAPLEX is brand new poplar core film faced plywood made of 13 plies poplar new veneer. We use WBP glue. This is TWO hot pressed plywood. High quality of every panel is guaranteed.

* For reference the Finger Joint Core (recycled) film faced plywood is made by used plywood parts. Composed by a machine and all that sanded. Than 2 new veneer plies used on both sides. And filmed after that. The finger joint core plywood has same outside view as the poplar core but in most panels you can meet sand and concrete and quality is very poor. You can use 1-3 times.

This type of RECYCLED-Filmfaced-Plywood is one of the cheapest formwork panels on the market. The core is recycled poplar wood from china, which has been finger-joined and laminated – or also known as a “Laminboard-FJL” – on which a new veneer is applied – to then a cheaper Chinese formwork film on both sides. Just by using recycled wood and gluing small bands into the core, the panel is very cheap, but it is on the other hand not advisable to saw this board into narrow strips or small pieces. Only suitable for very simple one-time formwork, without specific requirements.

The 1THP type of poplar filmfaced plywood is an answer (especially for the French market) to have an even cheaper variant on the 2THP-type Filmfaced Plywood. This formwork panel – in the very low price segment – went through the cold press once, was not specially calibrated for thickness and then went directly (with the film) through the hot press once. The result is a very cheaper concrete shuttering plywood, which because it was not calibrated may show thickness differences and has some minor defects in the film. The formwork sheet is only suitable for very simple formwork work, without high demands. The difference with the even cheaper recycled plywood is that 1THP can be sawn into small strips/sizes.

The 2THP-type in poplar filmfaced plywood is one of the best-selling type in the low price segment. It is a poplar concrete shuttering plywood with a class-2 bond, which went through the cold press once, then through the hot press, to be sanded once afterwards and together with the formwork film went through the hot press a second time. The result is a cheaper formwork panel for simple formwork work, where there are no high demands.

We remain in the low-cost segment, but on this type: “3THP Q-Premium” Filmfaced Poplar Plywood, extra attention has been paid to quality. A perfectly smooth “red-brown” Dynea film (of 130gr) was provided on both sides. A water-resistant bonding (EN314-2 Cl.2) was used and extra attention was paid to the core construction. In which the base-panel went through the cold press once, calibrated and sanded two times and the hot press was used three times. The panel is correctly calibrated in thickness and has a smooth surface on both sides. The biggest difference with the 2THP is that the 3THP, just before applying the film, the panel was extra calibrated (on thickness and flatness of the supporting panel), slightly more attention was paid to the layer structure and the film is a DYNEA-Film of red-brown colour.

HW-COMBI Filmfaced Plywood “Hardwood-Combi” has a slightly higher density due to the proportion of hardwood in the core, this compared to the cheaper poplar concrete plywood. The “OX-SUPERFILM-240” filmfaced plywood is with us, one of the best-selling concrete plywood. This superior concrete plywood was developed exclusively and together with a professional manufacturer in China, to meet predetermined standards. The board receives a 240gr high-quality formwork film, with the well-known logo on one side. (There is no logo on the back side). 100% hardwood is used in the core and the technique of machine core-building applied, to have quasi no core-gaps or quasi no overlaps in the base panel. The producer also aims for EN314-2 Class-3 bonding and is tested in China at Class-III. We test the board on a regular basis in Europe – in an independent lab – and cautiously, we give that board an EN314-2 Class-2+. The shuttering board is suitable for protected outdoor use for multiple shuttering jobs.

Film Faced
Film faced plywood is an exterior plywood used in building and construction projects. It has a special film coating on its surface made from phenol or melamine on either or both sides which gives the plywood a higher resistance to moisture, abrasion, chemical degradation and fungal attack compared to ordinary plywood.

Because of its increased stability and resistance to moisture, ultraviolet radiation and corrosive chemicals, film-faced plywood is ideal for outdoor applications such as the external surfaces of new buildings.

The extra film layer and acrylic varnished edges of this type of plywood make it more durable and less able to distort when used outdoors in harsh weather and adverse conditions.

Buildings in direct sunlight are less prone to wear and tear if they are made from film-faced plywood, at least as part of the overall structure.

The plywood is useful for forming level molding boards and girder molding boards, which need to be resistant to strong forces, large amounts of fast-flowing water and yet still maintain their structural integrity and shape. There is a choice of thicknesses available, depending on requirements, from 12mm, 15mm and 18mm to 21mm, 24mm and 27mm. Some examples can reach 30mm.

Pre- disclosure by the European Commission on Provisional Anti-Dumping Duties on Hardwood Plywood from China,May 12nd ,13rd,2025

EU Industry takes note of the Commission’s Preliminary Disclosure of Anti-dumping Duties on Hardwood Plywood from China

Urges Vigilance on Circumvention

Brussels, 12 May 2025 – The Greenwood Consortium takes note of the Commission’s suggested duties released in the pre-disclosure but urges the Commission to remain vigilant and go further.

This decision comes in the context of the ongoing EU anti-dumping investigation against imports of hardwood plywood from China which was launched by the European Commission in October 2024 on the basis of a formal complaint filed by the EU industry representing 17 producers of hardwood plywood throughout the EU.

The Greenwood Consortium had previously identified significant dumping and injury margins for various types of Chinese hardwood plywood and the Commission’s pre-disclosure, released today, clearly confirms that by setting a provisional anti-dumping duty for Pizhou Jiangshan Wood Co., Ltd at 25,1% and a duty of 62,4% for all other Chinese companies (as well as confirming the injury margins in this case as high as 144,3% and 192,7% respectively). Full details of the methodologies followed by the Commission to reach the above findings will be made available to the Greenwood Consortium for review and comments at the provisional stage of the present investigation in June 2025. The Greenwood Consortium will be preparing and filing its detailed comments to the Commission on the levels of the provisional anti-dumping duties in due course.

Since the registration of imports of hardwood plywood from China has been on-going since December 2024, the duties announced today could eventually be imposed retroactively on importers from that date should the investigation ultimately conclude with definitive duties.

“We welcome the Commission’s suggested duties but urge the Commission to remain vigilant. We’ve already seen early signs of attempts to evade duties through slight and economically unjustified product modifications, as well as uncovering evidence of mislabelling and illicit Russian wood entering the EU via China. We expect the Commission to take decisive action to prevent these unfair and even illegal practices.”

Imposition of these anti-dumping duties would not cause EU end users to face an adverse selection. In addition, there are other sources of supply available to EU end users, not only from domestic EU producers themselves, but also via imports from third countries.

A Hexagonal, tough, anti slip plywood, suitable for a wide range of applications. This phenolic birch plywood is easily worked, can be CNC machined, and with good chemical and weather resistance, Buffalo® Board is the ideal choice for commercial vehicle flooring.
Standard colour:- Dark Brown
Edges are sealed with acrylic resin paint.

It is most commonly used as flooring in trailers, trucks, vans or horse boxes, decking for narrow boats or planks for scaffold towers but has many other uses.

Plywood
Plywood variants fall into three categories: exterior (WBP), interior (MR), and marine. Even though most people use Weather and Boil Proof or Water and Boil Proof (WBP) to describe exterior plywood, that descriptor has not been in use for some time.

Individual species’ endurance did not factor into the previous WBP standard, which only considered the adhesive type. The British Standards were amended for clarification to eliminate confusion.

An entirely exterior board would need to fulfill EN 636: Class 3, where the adhesive of EN 314-2: Class 3 is used in conjunction with a suitable biologically resistant wood species.

What is Plywood?
Plywood comprises narrow “plies” of wood veneer bonded together with the wood grain of the adjoining layers at 90 degrees from one other. A ply sheet is made by gluing wood veneers in its most basic form.

The alternated layers of plywood limit the organic movement of wood, which tends to expand and contract with moisture along the grain, leaving it more structurally stable than a standard 2×4. Because of its construction and materials, plywood doesn’t easily bend, break, crack or shrink. Three plies are the very minimum, although more are frequently preferred.

How is Plywood made?
Plywood components are constructed differently based on how they will be utilized. If plywood is used for building, it is flattened into huge, sheet form. It can be made in custom curves if it is needed for furniture, boats, airplanes, or other complex structures.

Each layer of plywood has an angled grain. This reduces the potential of shrinking while retaining the strength and longevity of the layer. The plywood is made up of at least three layers of wood that are subsequently glued together.

The front and back of the plywood are its two outer surfaces. The face is typically the visible half, while the rear is obscured from view. When 5+ plies are present, the extra internal layers are called the crossbands, while the primary layer is called the core.

Types of Plywood
Plywood variants are made to work in specific environments, so you have to know what they are made for when buying. Here are some of the most common types:

Marine Plywood
Also known as BWP or boiling waterproof plywood, it is commonplace in the boat-making industry, given its high water resistance. Marine plywood is derived from Western Larch and Douglas fir. It is not naturally water resistant and requires treatment before use in marine applications and sometimes outdoor beachside furniture.

Birch Plywood
Birch plywood is a hardwood variant made from deciduous trees of the same name. Birch plywood boards are used in various applications, including home renovations, formwork, millwork, industrial and structural work, minor construction, and underlayment.

Plywood Flooring
Plywood flooring is a form of flooring that leverages plywood board instead of other materials. Plywood flooring usually comes with regional approval stamps, improved cross-graining, a high-stress rating, higher quality bonding, preservative treatment, and specialized finishing to withstand floor stress.

Exterior Plywood
Exterior plywood is designed for outdoor use. The design gives it weather resistance, with specific or broad design adaptations for different environments. It often comes from Douglas Fir and is fused with waterproof glue to make it durable.

Interior Plywood
Interior plywood is designed for indoor use. However, that doesn’t mean it is less desirable than outdoor counterparts since you can get variants with moisture and boiling water resistance. Interior plywood can make wall paneling, partitioning, cabinets, furniture, the ceiling, floors, and more.

Phenolic Plywood
Phenolic plywood cores utilize several stacked, thin birch wood planks.

The veneer is made of birch, thick paper, and various appropriate wood types and covers the core. Its veneers are covered and soaked in a synthetic resin called phenolic, giving it the name. Given its safety, moisture protection, and durability, it is used for fixtures, floors, and furniture.

Hardwood Plywood
Hardwood plywood, as the name indicates, is constructed from hardwoods and is designed to be durable. Typically, the design has three or more layers and is created with a hardwood face and back veneer, as well as a hardwood or softwood core, before being faced and backed with a finish/veneer. It is frequently used in ornamental projects, millwork, cabinetry, and furniture construction.

Shuttering Plywood
Shuttering plywood is specially densified plywood, which gives it at least nine layers of core veneers fused under high pressure and temperature. It comes with slick film on both faces of the board since it is primarily used in construction formwork to hold cement and put up ceilings. The pattern strengthens this plywood to carry a heavy load of concrete mixes and ceilings without breaking.

Flexible Plywood
Flexible plywood has a unique structure that makes it easy to bend without breaking. The precise bending radii must be chosen based on the surface finishing required and the area of the surface to be treated. The bend forms an arc perpendicular to the grain orientation of the face and is ideal for veneering, furniture building, and ornamental reasons.

Poplar Plywood
Poplar plywood offers a broad array of uses, is adaptable, and ranks among the most preferred plywood alternatives. Furthermore, numerous coatings may be put on poplar plywood to boost resistance and lifespan while blending well with the color palettes used in your house. This is due to its ease of cutting, versatility, low weight, and sustainability.

Softwood Plywood
Softwood plywood features a softwood veneer on the back and face. Softwood plywood panels are useful for structural applications because they feature a softwood or hardwood core and a softwood veneer on the face or back.

Fire-Rated Plywood
Fire-rated plywood is a kind that has been treated to slow or significantly minimize the impact of fire. During a fire, the substances in the wood lead it to char, limiting the spread of the fire and minimizing oxidation. It is also made to last and is frequently utilized in construction owing to its unique qualities.

Formwork Plywood
Formwork is a term used to describe a plywood application. Formwork plywood, also known as shuttering plywood, MDO-faced plywood, wood veneer-faced plywood, or film-faced plywood, is a type of plywood used to cast forms, particularly with concrete mixes or when surfaces demand lightweight but sturdy outer layers.

8×4 Plywood
The “8×4” in the name refers to the size of the plywood rather than the kind. They are referring to 8-foot-by-4-foot plywood (an industry standard), which is comparable to 2440mm by 1220mm.

Large Plywood Sheets
Large plywood sheets can be purchased in bespoke sizes based on the needs of your project. Because plywood is easy to cut, it is simple to work with. The bigger sizes are available in the form of utility plywood, which may be 5 feet wide and 10 feet long.

Plywood Grades
The grade refers to the physical appearance of the plywood.

Grade A: The sheet’s face and back are defect-free, with a clean, sanded surface and few knots. The surface is suitable for cabinets and furniture and may be stained or painted. It is designed to be seen rather than obscured by another material.
Grade B: The sheet is sanded smooth with a few minor flaws on the face and back, some of which have been filled in with patching or wood filler. It is also cheaper than Grade A.
Grade C: This level exhibits tight knots up to 1 1/2 inches wide that is not sanded. There may be extensive filling and patching. It is excellent for subflooring and surfaces meant to be covered up.
Grade D: This grade is unsanded, shows several patches and filler applications, has knot holes up to 2 1/2 inches in width, and has some unrepaired flaws. Similar to Grade C, it is suitable for structural applications that won’t be visible.
When two grades are listed, such as in the example A/B, the A stands for the front and the B for the back.

EN 636: 2012 Plywood – Specifications
Class 1: Plywood for use in dry conditions. (EN 636-1) This type is best for environments with low humidity (which can occasionally reach 65%) and moisture levels in the material equivalent to 20°C. This kind of panel can be used in Class 1 of EN 335 according to ENV 1995-1-1.

Class 2: Plywood for use in humid conditions. (EN 636-2) Best for places where the humidity rises above 85% (occasionally) and the plywood’s moisture content corresponds to 20°C. These fall in class 2, as dictated by ENV 1995-1-1.

Class 3: Plywood for exterior conditions. (EN 636-3) Best for climates with greater moisture content than service class 2. These circumstances fall under ENV 1995-1-1’s service class 3 designation. It can withstand the elements and water/dampness in the intended site if it is ventilated.

9.2 Biological Durability

The plywood must be suitable for the local climate conditions. Attack risk possibility as described in EN335-3 Hazard (use) Class 3 says that in this class, if sufficient preservation treatment and/or pertinent surface and edge coating are not applied, and if the panels are not maintained or installed properly, the effectiveness of the majority of plywood will be affected.

EN 314-2: 1993 Plywood Bonding – Requirements
Class 1: Suited to dry conditions. The regular indoor atmosphere is suitable for this bonding class.

Class 2: Suited to humid conditions. This bonding class is suitable for covered exterior applications (behind cladding or beneath roof coverings) but can take brief exposure to the elements. It works for interior settings when moisture exceeds class 1.

Class 3: Suited to external conditions. This bonding class is intended for prolonged exposure to the elements.

Plywood Sheet Sizes
Plywood comes in various sheet sizes. They include:

10×5 and 10×4 – Large Plywood

10×5 and 10×4 plywood sheets constitute some of the biggest plywood types you can buy. They are equivalent to 3050mm x 1525mm and 3050mm x 1220mm, respectively. Based on strength, they can be used for forming walls, structural columns, and ceilings. They can also be used for walls and come from factories with ready openings cut into them.

8×4 Plywood

8×4 is the industry standard plywood size. It measures 8 feet by 4 feet, the same as 2440mm by 1220mm.

ATP’s own trademarked wire-mesh faced Birch plywood

Did you know…..Buffalo® board was conceived and launched by James Latham in 1988 and is offered exclusively by Advanced Technical Panels. Over the years the Buffalo brand has gained a formidable reputation for superior quality and is still considered to be the ‘go to’ product by many manufacturers.

Economical, robust, slip-resistant birch plywood that is widely used for many demanding applications, including van and trailer flooring, ramps and stages, boat decking, scaffold tower decks, access platforms, steps and walkways and temporary flooring.

Latvian Birch Plywood overlaid with a tough, phenolic film that is imprinted with a large wire mesh pattern which imparts wear and slip resistance. All edges are sealed at the mill with acrylic paint.
