Our Vietnamese Birch is a rotary cut, plywood that has exceptional
machining properties and is suitable for natural, colored, and painted
finishes. With a whole-piece veneer face, this import plywood features
an Acacia and Eucalyptus core. Available in both raw and prefinished
panels, we source several thicknesses and grades to provide flexibility
in meeting a variety of needs.
Applications
White Birch is known for being a highly versatile wood with a wide
variety of uses. It is a strong building material and is mostly used for
interior applications that include, but are not limited to, cabinetry,
furniture, desks, shelving, trim work, lamination, and general
woodworking.

Manufactured in Australia at Big River’s Grafton and Wagga Wagga sites, all Big River formply is certified under the EWPAA product certification scheme to meet AS/NZS 6669. All products carry the PAA stamp of accreditation to the relevant Australian and New Zealand Standards under a JAS-ANZ accredited, third party audited quality control program that is internationally recognised.

Structural Plywood (CD)
Structural plywood is an engineered wood panel designed to be a high-strength sheet for use in general structural building and construction, subject to an application’s load bearing requirements.

Structural ply is commonly used as an untreated panel, but is also available in treated variants, typically H2-S, H2 or H3.

Whilst versatile in its use, structural plywood is manufactured first for its structural properties rather than aesthetics, and as such the face veneer may have some puttied splits and knotholes.

Non-Structural Plywood (CD)
Non-structural plywood is an economical plywood sheet for use in a broad range of applications from hoardings to furniture and wall linings.

Made with an A bond glueline to give it durability and performance. Non-structural ply is well suited to painting or staining.

Non-Structural ply is commonly used as an untreated panel, but can also be supplied in treated variants such as H2-S, H2 or H3 when required for long term outdoor use.

Whilst having some properties in common with structural plywood, non-structural ply is neither manufactured to or tested against Australian Standards and carries no F rating. Therefore it is important that non-structural ply is only used in non-structural or non-load bearing applications.

Whilst versatile in its use, non-structural plywood is manufactured to be a low cost plywood panel and as such the face veneer may have some puttied splits and knotholes.

Bracing Plywood
Hardwood Bracing Plywood (F22) is suitable for use in wall and roof bracing applications. Using bracing in timber framed buildings affords designers the opportunity to incorporate large openings and areas of glass in external walls or additional wall strength for cyclonic areas.

Whilst only visible for a few weeks during the construction phase, bracing ply helps provides protection from wind damage for the life of the building.

Made from mixed species hardwood sourced from legally harvested resources and an A Bond glueline to comply with AS2269. F22 Hardwood bracing plywood can be supplied in untreated and H2-S treated (i.e. against termites) variants.

It is important that all fixing of brace ply adhered to the Building Code of Australia and AS 1684 – Residential Timber Framed Construction Code.

MEDIUM-DENSITY FIBERBOARD CORE
Our medium-density fiberboard core can be machined to the finest tolerances without chipping. It provides an exceptional laminating surface that is smooth, hard and consistent throughout the panel.

PARTICLEBOARD CORE
Our specially engineered particleboard core provides the perfect density on the face and back to accept laminates of all kinds, and a core that delivers physical properties to make it a workhorse for many applications.

PRO-CORE MDF
Pro-Core MDF uses MDF crossbands and a veneer core interior to deliver the best performance of any core material we offer. The MDF face and back offer the best laminating surface, and the veneer core delivers the best physical properties andlighter weight.

VENEER CORE
We manufacture one of the industry’s finest softwood veneer cores using trees harvested from responsibly managed forest lands and peeled at our facility. The quality of our softwood veneer yields a core that is consistent in thickness and a wood veneer laminating surface that is second to none.

Overview
bbi began by supplying plywood to the packaging industry but quickly realised there was an opportunity to expand the range. bbi now supplies product for a range of civil and commercial projects, from ply for acoustic dampening on a major roading development to appearance grade product to meet architects’ specifications for interior finishing. We distribute nationwide through building supply stores for the building industry, and we supply large industrial users such as the packaging industry directly.

In order to manage the considerable growth we’ve experienced over the last few years, we’ve employed the best people from within the building supplies industry, on both the retail and wholesale side, and now have over 100 years of combined experience within our team.

We have a wealth of knowledge and experience and offer tailored solutions to the needs of the project.

While versatile in its applications, it’s essential to note that structural plywood is primarily manufactured for its structural properties rather than its appearance. As such, the face veneer may exhibit some puttied splits and knotholes, which are considered normal and do not affect its structural integrity.

Non-Structural Plywood: Versatile and Economical

Non-structural plywood is a cost-effective plywood sheet suitable for a wide range of applications, from hoardings to furniture and wall linings.

Crafted with an A bond glueline, it offers durability and reliable performance. Non-structural plywood is well-suited for painting or staining to match various design preferences.

While commonly used as an untreated panel, it can also be supplied in treated variants, such as H2-S, H2, or H3, for extended outdoor use.

Although non-structural plywood shares some properties with structural plywood, it is not manufactured to or tested against Australian Standards and does not carry an F rating. Therefore, it’s crucial to use non-structural plywood only in non-load-bearing or non-structural applications.

Despite its versatility, non-structural plywood is designed to be a low-cost panel, which means the face veneer may contain some puttied splits and knotholes.

Hardwood Bracing Plywood (F22): Strength and Durability for Structural Integrity

Hardwood Bracing Plywood (F22) is designed for wall and roof bracing applications, providing essential support in timber-framed buildings. Incorporating bracing into the structure allows for the inclusion of large openings and extensive areas of glass in external walls, or additional wall strength in cyclonic areas.

Although only visible during the construction phase, bracing ply plays a crucial role in protecting the building from wind damage throughout its lifespan.

Crafted from mixed species hardwood sourced from legally harvested resources and featuring an A Bond glueline compliant with AS2269, F22 Hardwood bracing plywood is available in both untreated and H2-S treated variants (treated against termites).

It is essential that all bracing ply installations adhere to the Building Code of Australia and AS 1684 – Residential Timber Framed Construction Code to ensure structural integrity and compliance.

Certified to AS/NZS 2269:2012 for structural integrity, Evolution’s F22 structural bracing ply is manufactured using mixed source hardwoods. Bracing ply is designed to provide horizontal stability against high winds and other lateral forces that may be applied to the building.

Evolution’s bracing plywood is suitable for wall or roof bracing applications. Featuring an A-bond glue line for exposure to weather conditions and treated to H2S-G preservative levels for protection against termites and environmental degradation.
